Goodreads blurb: The Secret Garden meets A Wrinkle in Time in the spellbinding final book of the New York Times-bestselling Greenwild series. Daisy and her friends may have defeated the Grim Reapers in Iffenwild, but it’s clear that the battle for the Greenwild is only just beginning. With the support of the Iffenwilders and their mighty water magic, Daisy and her friends are finally setting off to rescue the Botanists held prisoner in the heart of the Amazon rainforest – including Daisy’s ma and the Prof’s grandfather. But when an unexpected attack sends the rescue mission spinning off course, Daisy, Indigo, and the Prof find themselves in the Amazon alone – where they must draw on every ounce of their courage, magic, and ingenuity to survive.

My review: A great finale to a really fantastic trilogy! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all three of the books in the series, but this thrilling conclusion definitely wraps things up with a bang. Truly loveable characters, dazzling worldbuilding, and a plot so adventure-filled it’s hard to put down. My only complaint was that it felt like there were some significant plot parallels to another very popular series, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of this story. The dual narrative kept the pace feeling fast, and once again Thomson manages to take readers on a great adventure while also handling difficult relationships, loss, and grief with real care. This will be a must-buy series to have for my kids.

CW (highlight to read): considerable peril (for younger readers) including multiple fires, parent loss prior to story, child illness/loss prior to story, on-page death
